Salem Sound Coastwatch Weeks

Our new and improved keel boat program will be featuring Salem Sound Coastwatch this year to add STEAM into our curriculum. Learn about Salem Sound Coastwatch here: https://www.salemsound.org/

Week 1: Marine Debris

Join Salem Sound Coastwatch to learn about how trash travels from the streets to Salem Sound and the problems with trash in our ocean. Weaving sailing and the science behind trash across our oceans students will better understand oceanography and at the end of the week they will complete a project to communicate that understanding to others. Students will brainstorm and share solutions they can implement in their everyday lives.

Week 2: Marine Engineering

Join Salem Sound Coastwatch to explore the ocean with innovative underwater robotics. Students will build and test their designs to deploy out on Salem Sound during our final sail. Learn about the SeaPerch robots we will be using here: https://www.seaperch.org/about
